Once Upon A Time

So how did our fairytale begin?  Well I would love to say that it was all roses and sunshine at first but it wasn't. (hahaha, not the best way to start your love story huh?)  Well I'm just bein' honest. ;) I first met my husband Tommy at the tail end of the summer in 2003.  We had a mutual friend named Traci, whom I met out for drinks one night.  She convinced me to stay out a little longer because there were some friends I just had to meet.  I didn't really want to stay, at the time I had a jealous boyfriend that clocked my arrival times to the minute and he was waiting on me. I stayed a bit longer at the bar anyways and met Tommy. So what did I think of this guy? Hmmmm...JERK. He seemed pompous, extremely over confident, and way too outspoken.  He told me he "used to be in the circus and could guess my weight and measurements." (which was of course a lie) I thought how rude!!!  Ok who wants to have some dude look them up and down and critique their measurements...anything to check out my butt right?!!  PIG.  But I let him do it anyways.  Even though he was kind of a jerk, I did notice he had a nice smile...and I figured that's how he got all the girls...well not this one (or so I thought...ermmm).  After correctly guessing my height, weight, and overall measurements.  I walked away really unimpressed and off to my not so knight in shining armour.

Three months later, after a roller coaster relationship with my boyfriend and an ugly breakup, I ran into Tommy again.  I was fumbling my way through a bartending job (which by the way I had never done before) when in walks Mr. Circus Clown...and I figured..."what's he gonna do now, make me a baloon animal?!!"  But somehow this time he was different.  His smile was genuine.  He was more calm and wanted to listen to what I had to say.  The bar was empty, so we chatted for a bit.  He came into see me again and we talked some more.  He asked our friend Traci about me and she let me know that he asked.  I got excited that he had asked about me because I thought he was very handsome and so NOT interested in me. I got his number from her.  I gave him a call.  We talked on the phone for 5 hours!!  Our cell phones would start to die so we would hurry and call eachother back with our home phones.  The conversation did not seem to last  for 5 hours.  It was unreal...absolutely amazing how much we had in common; our goals, values, dreams, and innermost feelings.

So, Tommy asked me out on our first date.  I said NO.  I know you're thinking I'm a fool, but I had just gotten out of a bad relationship and didn't want to jump right into something so soon, especially if it was too good to be true.  He would not take no for an answer.  He said "It's not a date.  It's just lunch.  You gotta eat don't ya??"  How could I argue with that?  So we went out to Applebees for our first "non-date". hahaha  The rest really is history.  We ended up moving in together shortly after that.  A year later we were engaged, a year after that we were married, and then another year later I was pregnant with our first child, Lily.  We proudly welcomed a son, Gabriel, 18months after Lily was born.  We moved into our dream home out in the sticks and we have been together for a total of almost 8 years!! It really is hard to believe that much time has passed already.  It's almost like that 5 hour conversation that we had that first night on the phone, where did the time go??  I guess it flies when you are with someone that really completes you.  I don't mean to sound too "mushy" because there was a time when I was jaded too, just like Tommy was when I met him that summer.  There was a time when I wasn't little miss suzy sunshine regarding love, until I found the real deal.  Sure, we have our trials...life has thrown us some curves.  However, that's when we become closer.  I have never been happier and I know I can say the same for Tommy. So that's our love story...2 jaded souls who became soulmates and parents to 2 of the most wonderful little angels on this planet.  Hope you enjoy this blog and our story! God Bless. (And a BIG heartfelt THANK YOU to my friend Traci who nudged us both in the right direction...towards eachother. ;)  Love ya girl!!)
